One year ago today, the occupation took Mosab Ali from us. Targeted and killed him as he was sourcing aid.
It was one of the darkest days in The Sameer Project's brief history. We lost far more than a colleague. We lost a leader, a calming presence in moments of chaos, a trusted friend, a moral compass, and a beloved member of our family.
Mosab lived a life of service. He cared deeply for his people and carried himself with humility, kindness, and unwavering faith. He feared God, loved God, and dedicated himself to serving others. Even from his own salary, he would set aside money to help feed families in his neighborhood. He cared for his family with devotion and treated every resident of our camps as an extension of that family.
To know Mosab was to witness compassion, honor, respect. He listened more than he spoke. He comforted others before thinking of himself. He believed that dignity, mercy, and community were not ideals, but responsibilities.
Mosab was also a dreamer. He dreamed of a better Gaza - founding our partner organization, TechMed, out of concern for the mental health of his people going through a genocide. He was going to make a better future for children. Those dreams did not die with him.
We carry them with us every day.
We miss him beyond words. We miss his wisdom, his laughter, his patience, and his presence. But we honor him in the way he would have wanted: by continuing the work, caring for our people, and refusing to give up on the future he believed was possible.
May Allah have mercy on our beloved Mosab, accept him among the righteous, and grant him the highest levels of Jannah.
You are gone from our daily sight, but never from our hearts.
