Comedian Susie McCabe on why she is taking part in the demonstration to "reclaim our streets" in the wake of race riots in Glasgow 🗣️ 'I was ashamed that people from ethnic minorities and marginalised communities were getting bullied by people. Disgusting'

The community of North Belfast is made up of incredibly kind, generous and welcoming people. Today I met with community and youth leaders, representatives from ethnic minority communities, and local residents in Kinnaird, Ardoyne and The Bone to offer my full support following Monday's vicious attack. I also met with health workers in the Mater Hospital to offer my support during these difficult times. In recent days, we have witnessed dangerous and disgraceful racist attacks across the North. There can be absolutely no place in our communities for racism. But what has not been recognised enough is the work being done every day by people at the heart of our communities to support one another. Despite the disgraceful efforts of those seeking to sow hate and division, communities are standing together. That spirit of solidarity represents the very best of us. Thank you to everyone in North Belfast who took the time to speak with me today, and to all those who continue to be a beacon of light during these difficult times.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 We’re kicking off the celebrations with a dash of total chaos. Flashback to 1995, when the legendary Lily Savage hijacked a #ThisMorning wine tasting session as only she could. 🍷 Here’s to a Pride Month that’s just as vibrant, unfiltered, and fun as Lily!

I'm taking WEIMAR to Scotland this week 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇩🇪📚 I'll be speaking at @ToppingsEdin and @ToppingsStAs. Do come along if you're in the mood for some German history. In between I shall see if I can't expand my Scottish culinary horizons beyond whisky, Irn-Bru and haggis...

If my boys grow up to be like Jo and Kush from Race Across the World we will have done something right. They’re a brilliant antidote to Tate-style toxic masculinity: bright, kind, compassionate, emotionally intelligent, grounded, and culturally aware. PROPER role models for boys.

🚨 SHOCKING — These are the exact same Reform activists who flood X every day screaming, lecturing, and telling everyone how Britain should be run… Yet 24 hours after getting elected in Kirklees, they stand up in full council and admit: “I don’t understand the Constitution… I don’t understand standing orders… I don’t understand what an amendment is.” Then they whine it’s “not democratic” they might vote on things they don’t understand This is the terrifying danger of populist rage politics: loud online warriors with ZERO clue how to actually govern. Handing real power to people who don’t even know where to start is how countries collapse. Watch this embarrassment 👇👇👇👇CC: @LesTrumpeter

Two headlines on the BBC on the same day. One relates to the SNP Govt's attempt to cap the price of essential food items. The other relates to the UK Labour Govt's attempt to cap the price of essential food items. Near identical aims, but completely opposite framing.

The word "hyperinflation" conjures images of people taking wheelbarrows of cash to the shops. But what was it really like to live through a time when money was worthless? This week on Reichs and Republics: "Who Wants to be a Trillionaire? The Weimar Hyperinflation". Out now.

On behalf of their client, Zara Sultana, Bindmans Media and Information Law Practise Group requires that I publish the following statement on X, and that such statement must be clearly visible and pinned to my profile for a continuous period of no less than 24 hours: “On 30 March 2026, I published a post on my X account addressed to Zarah Sultana in which I stated that she encourages and incites violence and is friends with terrorists. Those statements are false. I was wrong and offer my sincere apologies to Ms Sultana for the harm and distress caused to her.” It is my very great pleasure to do this, and I reiterate my sincere and repeated offer to meet with Miss Zara Sultana in person to resolve our differences.

Mary Lou McDonald and I have spoken today with SNP leader John Swinney and Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth. The momentum for constitutional change across these islands is now greater than ever. People in Ireland, Scotland and Wales are looking towards a future beyond the Union, where we have full control over our own affairs. We discussed the enormous significance of this week’s election results, and the historic potential of having three nationalist, pro-independence First Ministers. We agreed to continue working together to strengthen the friendship between our nations, and to stand up for the democratic right of our people to self-determination.
