For almost 14 years I’ve watched football with this little guy.
He and his brother have been with me from the beginning. They were there in college, they were there when the once-girlfriend who gave them to me when we were 19 ended up becoming my wife, and they were there when I decided to take the leap and start doing YouTube for a living. Through 10 moves and nine apartments, houses, and air mattresses in my in-law’s spare office, they saw it all.
We got the news today that Fatty has cancer, and that is the reason for his difficulty in breathing. The vets were able to drain the fluids from his chest one last time, and then we brought him home for one last night with us.
This is the last game I’ll ever get to watch with my boy. We say good bye forever tomorrow.
Tonight, we ordered his favorite meal - El Pollo Loco - to give him the dinner he deserved after all these years of love. And then Nikki and I were able to take a family photo with both of the boys to remember this night.
I am devastated, but grateful. My heart is full, and yet broken.
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”
