120 years ago, Dec 17, 1903, the Wright brothers made their first controlled flights of a powered aircraft at Kitty Hawk, NC. Others claimed to be first; @HxDilettante and I are writing more about it in our book on Bettis airport and #Pittsburgh's early aviation. @HistoryCenter
On this day 95 years ago, Boy Scouts across the country permanently marked the Lincoln Highway with concrete posts, placing them into holes dug prior by other troops. At the time, it was noted "this will be one of the most important pieces of service undertaken by the Boy Scouts"
