As part of a trip around the ferry network, earlier today CMAL's Director of Port Infrastructure, Ramsay Muirhead, updated @GrahamSMSP on the progress of works at the port of Kennacraig, in preparation for the arrival of the new Islay vessels.

Today marks a significant milestone in the delivery of our two Islay vessels as the MV Isle of Islay successfully entered the water at @cemreshipyard in Turkey.

Two more key milestones were met in the construction of four CMAL vessels at @cemreshipyard in Turkey yesterday—keel laying for the newly named MV Loch Indaal, the sister ship of MV Isle of Islay, and the steel cutting of the first Little Minch vessel ⛴️

Last week Chris, Edward, Paul & Chris from CMAL spent the day volunteering with local charity @OYTScotland supporting drydock works. OYT runs residential voyages at sea, & land-based activities like orienteering & crate climbing to young people in local communities.
Phase 1 of the project to upgrade Tarbert (Harris) ferry terminal has received the @CECA_Scotland award for Marine Infrastructure. Completed in Feb 22, this phase delivered the new pier, fendering system, dredging & increased marshalling area.

Our Chief Executive Kevin Hobbs has said of the investment: "This is a highly welcome commitment from the Scottish Government, which allows us to increase the pace of vessel replacement plans in line with our ambitions."
Additional @scotgov investment is funding two new vessels for the @CalMacFerries fleet
This will allow @CMAssets to accelerate plans to bring new vessels into service.
@JennyGilruth says the ferries will increase capacity and overall resilience.
