Is there a less-landfilly way to get rid of my approximately two thousand "lightning" cables, now that I have no more lightning devices? Asking for a friend.

The enshittification of Twitter continues. Now "Notifications" is being used as the target of an algorithmic "you might be interested in" feed.

One of the benefits of being in a foreign country is that the ads that are injected into your timeline are a little more obvious

When I was a first-year, my philosophy prof told me: "There are no writing problems, only thinking problems." Seemed kinda harsh at the time, but every time I finish a piece that I struggle with, I realize how right he was. RIP, Professor Epstein. You did great.🥃

Dear political candidates: if I've recently given you a decent-size chunk of money, can you please not keep asking if I can "chip in" a trivial amount? And, if I gave you money THIS WEEK, can you wait until, say, next week to hit me up again? #kthxbye

WEN power tools are an amazing value. For their price, you'd think they would be junk, but they're actually pretty decent, and an amazing bargain. For tools you only use once in a while, they're great.

Actually, to be really pedantic, the thing to hateses is *deserialization*. Serialization "merely" leaks private data; deserialization enables actual integrity failures, and undermines lots of useful optimizations.

The ActBlue home page is the worst "know your audience" fail ever. Oriented only towards selling their fundraising services, completely ignores that 99.999% of visitors are looking for "who can I donate to", and instead get a mistargeted sales pitch, and leave. Astounding.

And the "campaign search" tool, if you can find it, is TERRIBLE.

When receiving a cold inquiry (recruiter, conference organizer, random query for help), how many "I haven't heard from you" reminder mails is reasonable before it crosses over into rude?

ObGrumpyOldMan: I am so tired of being "congratulated" by machines for trivial things like submitting a form, or being told "nice choice" for putting something in my shopping cart. (Does anyone get told "rookie move, bozo" for buying dumb stuff? I'd be less grumpy if they did.)
