Reef squid use CHROMATOPHORES (pigment colors: 🔴🟡🟤⚫) and IRIDOPHORES (structural colors: 🔵🟢🟣) to make a rainbow of skin patterns
Strawberry squid use PHOTOPHORES (🔆) to blend in with light coming down from the surface, and maybe to communicate?

The last few weeks I’ve been learning about the most fascinating animals #Meduzoa #Ctenophora in a STRI course by @thuesen_v @beroe @MPMiglietta & O. Oliveira together with an amazing bunch of international students. During the course we IDed >65 species of jellies & polyps!
