Puis, quatorze mois plus tard, un jour, la famille était partie en randonnée. C'était une journée comme les autres. Ils ont vu un chien très faible et sale. Quand ils ont prononcé son nom, « Ranger », il s'est arrêté net. Un peu plus tard, Ranger s'est mis à courir vers sa famille aussi vite qu'il le pouvait. Ranger et sa famille étaient ravis de se revoir. Ils souriaient tous les deux. Même si Ranger était loin de sa famille depuis longtemps, il savait toujours qui ils étaient.
