Save Brislington Meadows is a community run campaign that is completely non-political. Our only aim is to have this designated site of nature conservation interest saved from any development so it can be enjoyed by future generations. We don’t care WHO saves it. 💚

As far as we know @BrisMeadows has been grazing land since Roman times. It is now a vital green lung for the local urbanised area. It must be kept: no ifs no buts. I am sick of hearing the blah blah of certain development-hungry councillors.

Helen said she doesn’t support the Brislington Meadows campaign and refuses to support saving this nature site. Same with Tony Dyer who wouldn’t even respond to questions. Don’t you dare claim you care about nature!! Spread the word please they want this hidden. @BrisMeadows
If you ever doubted how much we love nature in the West Country, just listen to how excited Mayor Helen Godwin gets about bird song 🐦 Our new £5 million Nature Fund will help keep the birds singing, and restore our natural world with major investments in our green spaces and waterways 🌳

📰 The news that Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) loopholes risk England's poorest communities being deprived of trees, green spaces and wildlife picked up a lot of attention last week - and rightly so. People deserve homes surrounded by trees, nature and healthy green spaces and new development should help create greener, healthier places to live. Read the report and find out more 👇
🚨 England's poorest communities risk losing out on the trees, green spaces and wildlife they need most. New research for Wildlife & Countryside Link shows that proposed Biodiversity Net Gain exemptions could disproportionately affect deprived communities, where access to nature is already limited. From de minimis loopholes to proposed 0.2ha and brownfield exemptions, the areas with the least greenery stand to lose the most. This is not the route to good, sustainable development or proud, thriving communities. People deserve homes surrounded by trees, nature and healthy green spaces. The Government should strengthen Biodiversity Net Gain, not weaken it. Read the report: wcl.org.uk/docs/green_gap_re…

Helen here doesn’t support saving Brislington Meadows and refuses to support campaigners or even her own party’s MP and Cllrs who have publicly said they don’t think this site should be destroyed. We don’t just doubt you care about nature we know you don’t!! @BrisMeadows

Good luck. I hope the dreaded housing minister doesn't overrule the council.
The meadows has survived another round. The application has been REFUSED by Cllrs. We need to continue to fight to save this incredible space for good, but huge thanks to everyone who has played a part in keeping the fight alive💪🏼💕people power works! bristol247.com/news-and-feat…

Congratulations @BrisMeadows The fight to save our green spaces can be won but we must remain vigilant. Well done Councillors for having some common sense.

Brilliant work by the campaign and all making public contributions. It really did make a difference at the margins as is clear from the councillor voting decisions.

Here’s what happened. Tomorrow I’ll do a montage of all the Cllrs that got interrupted during the meeting.
I was just interrupted by the planning chair despite being within the time limit. As someone with ADHD I always ask to not be interrupted because I find it distracting and lose my thoughts. By all means cut me off when my time is up but don’t tell me I have 10 seconds. 1/2

Is it not enough to save them that @BrisMeadows are biodiverse, climate change fighting and wellbeing enhancing beyond compensation? #shameful
Officers will tell Bristol cllrs in no uncertain terms at Wednesday’s planning meeting there’s no reason to refuse the controversial Brislington Meadows housing plan & it’s not the officers’ jobs to come up with refusal reasons, despite being asked to. 👇🏼 bristolpost.co.uk/news/brist…
