Man oh man! Cannot say enough about what a remarkable person @duvalpat3 is and how proud @UofIllinois should be to have him as part of the Fighting Illini family. Our kids invited him to their game at the middle school state b-ball tourney and he came to cheer them on! BEST EVER!

My pop-punk self from the early 00s is completely shredded by Taylor nodding to The Starting Line in a song about Matty Healy I am wholly wrecked. I will never recover. Where are all my burned CDs? 😭😭

Taylor Swift and Poet Emily Dickinson are cousins (sixth cousins, three times removed). More: rollingstone.com/music/music…

The back up to the back up plan of borrowing Howard Zimm’s A People’s History of the United States has left me with a TWO WEEK WAIT. To quote third eye blind here, “I’d walk with my people if I could find them”

Went to borrow my back up plan of Guns, Germs, and Steel and there is a 14 week wait. What is happening?!

I am 57th in line on Libby for a copy of an audiobook that was first released in 2003. Someone make that make sense. Who is going back in time to read (or re-read, in my case) A Short History of Nearly Everything?

Found a reimagining of The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) about the Magna Carta and I have never been more excited to make my high schoolers cringe in my life. youtu.be/XTWQzF1027I

Asking your students to compare Charlemagne to a recent political leader is a truly humbling teaching experience.

Put off all of the work I needed to do for the classes I teach and the classes for which I am a student to enjoy my sons’ basketball games and tournament this weekend. Spending the extra day off today catching up. I need more days in the week, for sure.

I’ve thought about one more thing - how will my kids feel if I die trying to save someone else’s kids? Which will win out - saving the kids in front of me, or fighting to live for my own children? And why, as a teacher, do I even need to consider so monstrous a choice?
This has been floating around for a bit. There's not one thing incorrect. Even if you aren't a teacher, you're looking for ways out, escape routes, and spots to shelter in place. I don't know who to credit, but thank you for putting into words what we are feeling right now 💔
