EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER❗️ "Karn Evil 9 : 3rd impression"‼️ ❷ Live "California Jam" at Ontario Motor Speedway, Ontario, CA‼️ Is the lack of footage of the full show due to the idiotic actions of the idiotic guitarist Ritchie Blackmore⁉️🤔 #KeithEmerson #GregLake #CarlPalmer

On this day in 1988, Pink Floyd released One Slip as a single in the UK. There was a 7" (with a pink vinyl variant), 12", and 5" CDSingle, and included Terminal Frost plus a live version of The Dogs of War. The London Underground had this as a huge poster to spread the word to commuters and visitors alike:

Released today in 1969 was Pink Floyd's first album without Syd Barrett, the soundtrack to the film More. Director Barbet Schroeder's film was set principally in Ibiza, and looks at the effects of heroin addiction. Roger Waters: "[Schroeder's] feeling about music for movies was, in those days, that he didn't want a soundtrack to go behind the movie. All he wanted was, literally, if the radio was switched on in the car, for example, he wanted something to come out of the car. Or someone goes and switches the TV on, or whatever it is. He wanted the soundtrack to relate exactly to what was happening in the movie, rather than a film score backing the visuals." The soundtrack album was therefore the only way to hear the music properly.

Watch Pink Floyd’s “Learning to Fly” from Live in Venice, now available on YouTube: youtu.be/1bp1alyC-Xw?si=rOfS… The 1989 Pink Floyd concert, staged on a floating platform in Venice, remains one of rock history’s most legendary—and controversial—live events.

Peter discusses the origin of 'A Hard Lesson' in the latest Full Moon video over on YouTube. You can watch the full video here: youtu.be/rW1t3UE3qvI?si=lq82… "I have to thank Charles Hughes because I asked him to sort through some of my old cassettes, of which there are many boxes, and he came across some of the many cassettes of Dakar 12, as it was then known, and liked it. He found the multi-tracks and added it to the list to be considered for the record. There's parts of it I've always liked, but it has effectively a new set of lyrics, some different melodies, different approach on the chorus, and I think it's a much better song now than it ever has been." - pg
