Yesterday, the SBC held a productive meeting with @monicabeharding, the @LibDems Spokesperson for International Development, with the support of Councillor @LibIntervention of Chichester North and Syrian activist Mrs Heba Ajami, @LD4FreeSyria, joined by Dr Firas Miro.
3. Addressing the situation of Syrians in the UK amid recent changes in UK immigration policy and emphasising the need for fair and transparent pathways to ILR for Syrian refugees and Syrian families who have established their lives and contributed to British society.
The Syrian British Consortium remains committed to constructive engagement with UK policymakers in support of Syrian communities and in advancing stability, development, and cooperation between the two countries.
SBC's Board Members join a discussion on education in Syria with the Minister of Education, Dr Muhammad Abdul Rahman Turko, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Marwan Al-Halabi, hosted at the UK FCDO.

We thank @DavidTaylor85 for advancing a session on disinformation in Syria featuring the @SyriaCivilDef. He discussed key issues with Minister Falconer, including education, the status of women, and efforts to combat sectarian violence through judicial and security sector reform.
It was incredibly moving to have Dr Ahmed Ekzayez sitting in front of our @CommonsIDC, because I never thought I'd see the day that the @SyriaCivDef were part of the Syrian Government!

SBC was pleased to coordinate a meeting between members of the Syrian community in Manchester and Hamish Falconer MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan at the FCDO, as well as Labour candidate Angeliki Stogia.
The Syrian participants in the meeting represented partner Syrian organisations with diverse experience, including Rethink Rebuild Society, Action for Humanity, and the Syrian British Academic Association, in addition to Syrians participating in their individual capacities.
