The worst part about this is it's not a compromised supply chain, this is the AUR working as intended. The AUR is from a time of open APIs and FTP servers, so if a package has no maintainer, anyone even a brand new account can adopt it and push changes.

Around 400 AUR packages compromised taken over and include NPM post install hooks.

There are about 15k orphaned packages on the AUR which someone could very easily spin up a script to compromise in a matter of minutes. Thankfully because they're orphaned very few people are using them but this is still a problem that probably needs to be addressed.
