A group of teachers at Noyes Elementary in DC are rallying for DCPS to do something about the amount of raccoons in their school. They’re demanding for a deep cleaning but that could be a challenge as Noyes begins summer school just days after the academic year ends.

Right Proper Kitchen is now open in Brookland with specials every day including all night happy hour on Mondays. They still have fried cheese curds 🙏
Monday - Friday: 5pm - 10pm
Saturday - Sunday: 4pm - 10pm
Right Proper Kitchen is opening in the former Brookland Pint space (716 Monroe St NE) next month.

Back at Murray & Paul's. Crazy busy this time but patience pays off. Love these home fries and watching the solo cook crank through all the orders.
Murray & Paul's (3513 12th St NE) has been serving Brookland since 1964. Go not just for nostalgia but legit good food. Great home fries and pancakes. Probably won't get country fried steak again, but not mad about it. With coffee, the spread was $18.50 including tax. Cash only.

We saw Ms. Flack in Brookland periodically. Her godfather, Revered Bob Johnson lived on 12th St NE into his 90’s and she would visit. She was always bubbly and kind to us and our dog. RIP, Queen.

A year ago yesterday, Roberta Flack died. Her DC ties are strong—she attended Howard University on a full piano scholarship, taught in DC Public Schools, & got her break playing 5 nights a week at Mr. Henry’s on Capitol Hill. The cover photo of her first album was also shot there
