Through our new nature strategy we’re taking action to conserve 30% of our marine and coastal waters by 2030 — like in the new Mia-yaltwa Ha'lidzogm hoon National Marine Conservation Area Reserve, where we’re protecting thousands of kilometres of coastal water in BC.

I’m flattered that CPC MPs Lawton, Gunn, Majumdar, and Reid are visiting Carleton. I don’t know what they think they’re accomplishing, but I thank them for their tourism. I hope they have a chance to enjoy Carleton’s delicious apple crumble, and take some back to their ridings.

With our new Nature Strategy, we’re preserving the biodiversity of BC’s Central Coast — and the wildlife it sustains.

Today, we signed a historic agreement to protect thousands of kilometres of coastal waters adjacent to the Great Bear Rainforest with Wuikinuxv, Nuxalk, Kitasoo Xai'xais, Heiltsuk, Gitxaała, and Gitga’at Nations, and the province of British Columbia.
This is the first of up to ten new national marine conservation areas we are establishing through our new nature strategy — helping conserve biodiversity on BC’s Central Coast for generations to come, and contributing to our goal of conserving 30 per cent of marine and coastal waters by 2030.

This plan will double the capacity of our grid, create good jobs, reduce emissions, enable energy efficient home retrofits, and supply clean, reliable, and affordable power across the country. This could lower total energy costs for 7 in 10 Canadian households.
