Workers at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester city centre have taken the historic decision to unionise at one of the largest hotel chains in the world✊ In the days after submitting a collective grievance, staff faced derogatory comments for engaging in Union activity and refusal from management to even consider the request for formal union recognition - a basic workers’ right. More seriously, they believe they are being subject to Union Victimisation through suspected breach of surveillance laws and the suspension of a team member involved in the union. On Thursday, I stood with @GlasgowUnite workers on the picket lines at @vuecinemas and @Village_Hotels, fighting for a real living wage and union recognition. I then joined the demonstration supporting Palestine hunger strikers at Nelson Mandela Place. Keir Starmer’s Labour government is going to let these young people die.
