The workers who negotiated this deal were 18, 19 and 25 and had never been on strike before. They are an inspiration to every hotel worker in the country. You can unionise, you can take industrial action and you can win.
🔥 Village Strike 🔥 Following 3 weeks of continuous strike action members at @Village_Hotels in Govan have won a 10% pay-rise backdated to April 2024 (with all tax/NI paid) & an end to zero hour contracts. Their fight for full equal pay and the real living wage continues!

🚨 The way in which workers have been treated by @brewdogofficial is nothing short of a national disgrace and the Directors responsible must be held to account. We are now working with members to ensure that they receive everything they are entitled to.

Workers at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester city centre have taken the historic decision to unionise at one of the largest hotel chains in the world✊ In the days after submitting a collective grievance, staff faced derogatory comments for engaging in Union activity and refusal from management to even consider the request for formal union recognition - a basic workers’ right. More seriously, they believe they are being subject to Union Victimisation through suspected breach of surveillance laws and the suspension of a team member involved in the union. Three workers involved in the campaign have said: "Breaking our backs for lazy management that don’t care about our wellbeing in and out of work has to stop. Having our concerns repeatedly ignored has forced us to join together to fight for a better workplace." "Hospitality workers face some of the lowest pay and worst working conditions in the UK. We are just asking for basic things like respect & dignity" “IHG had a 13% increase in operating profit to $1.27 billion in 2025 yet have chosen to to union bust instead of engage with the real concerns of it's staff" Our union is calling for Kimpton Hotel management to acknowledge the collective grievances and open discussion with their staff 📣 Support their campaign 👇 actionnetwork.org/forms/no-t…

On Thursday, I stood with @GlasgowUnite workers on the picket lines at @vuecinemas and @Village_Hotels, fighting for a real living wage and union recognition. I then joined the demonstration supporting Palestine hunger strikers at Nelson Mandela Place. Keir Starmer’s Labour government is going to let these young people die. As a movement, we won’t allow that to happen.

From 2am, in freezing temperatures, we were forced to protest for more than 12 hours before an ambulance was finally dispatched to HMP Bronzefield so that Qesser Zuhrah could receive the urgent medical care she needs. Just as Keir Starmer’s Labour government has enabled genocide in Gaza, it is now enabling the deaths of Palestine solidarity hunger strikers inside UK prisons. We demand immediate bail for all remand political prisoners.

This Government has lost any pretence of giving a damn about working people Millions backed these charlatans on a promise to redress the gross imbalance between workers and bosses and after a year of giving unions the runaround, they’ve binned it Labour should never be trusted
BREAKING: The government has abandoned plans to give workers the right not to be unfairly dismissed on day one, as per @JackElsom scoop They have agreed to reduce the qualifying period for unfair dismissal from 24 months to six months Businesses and unions met for two days this week to discuss the compromise this week. It comes after the Lords refused to back down over the measure this week, describing it as damaging The Resolution Foundation has warned that it could "inhibit hiring" and provided "little obvious gain". It said that younger workers could be particularly affected The government caved to pressure in a bid to ensure that the employment rights bill is enacted in April of next year. Day one rights to sick pay and paternity leave remain

❓Here's a challenge: Can you name another dispute where agency workers, brought in to break a strike, have balloted for strike action and voted yes?  ✊ Solidarity to Unite's members at @jobandtalent_hq 100% of whom voted for strike action, alongside the 99% at @BhamCityCouncil who voted to continue striking @itvnews

All these workers want is equal pay and a wage they can live on.
🚨 BREAKING 🚨 We have just served notice to @Village_Hotels that we intend to ballot our members at their Glasgow flagship to strike throughout December over Equal Pay and the real living wage. These workers deserve to be paid a rate they can live on regardless of age.

To anyone who thinks that strikes can’t effect serious and international political change show them this: One of the most right-wing governments in Europe has just been forced to send a frigate to accompany aid to Gaza, the day after a general strike across Italy…
