#Masstimber buildings are roughly 25% faster to construct than concrete buildings and require 90% less construction traffic. That saves much needed time, money, and energy.

#Masstimber creates safer construction sites for workers. Mass timber job sites have less scrap laying around, and cutting or welding is not required, reducing the risk of accidents or fires.

Studies have shown that building with #masstimber produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions than building with other materials. By some estimates, using mass timber in buildings 7-15 stories could equal taking more than 2 million cars off the road for one year!

Not only would #Quayside be the largest concentration of #masstimber buildings in the world, but by using mass timber the development is projected to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 75-85% compared to standard developments!

#Masstimber buildings weigh approximately 1/5th of comparable concrete buildings. This gives mass timber buildings a high strength-to-weight ratio, enabling them to perform well during seismic activity.

With the #masstimber code proposals currently being voted on, it is important to keep in mind the rigorous testing mass timber has gone through. Testing by the ATF Fire Research Laboratory has demonstrated that mass timber can meet and even surpass fire resistance standards.
