In June, we celebrate National Indigenous History Month, in honour and recognition of the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
It is also an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Indigenous perspectives, listen to Indigenous voices, and reflect on our shared journey toward truth, reconciliation, and meaningful relationships. Throughout the month, I encourage everyone to take time to learn, engage, and celebrate the enduring strength and contributions of Indigenous communities.
In this same spirit, residents are invited to attend a session titled "Indigenous History & Two Row Wampum", presented by authors Rick Hill and Daniel Coleman at the
@BurlOnLibrary on Thursday, June 18 from 7pm to 8pm, to delve into the eco-philosophy, legal evolution, and ethical protocols of two-path peace-making. They describe the sacred, ethical space that many of us navigate between these paths. This is a free event, but registration is required, with limited seating available. Learn more at
