Situated in the foothills of Pendle on the site of Woodend Colliery at Smithson farm Burnley. We are dedicated to the rich mining history of East Lancashire.
An exciting new photo collection just been donated to the museum. Here we have Hapton Valley Colliery, Burnley and John Freeman giving the new Shearer the onceover. Exact date not sure but mid to late 70's
Hapton Valley was the last nationally owned colliery in the East Lancashire area. It had worked continually from 1853 untill 1982 when it fell victim to the 1981 closure program along with Victoria colliery Stoke.
