A few years later, it collapsed. ₦20bn in debt and 900 people laid off. Most would have shut down. Aero Contractors didn’t. They stopped trying to survive as an airline and rebuilt as a maintenance and repair business.
And somehow, it worked.
In 2010, 40% of Nigeria’s oldest airline sold for ₦1.
By 2017, it had collapsed, then pivoted into something bigger. Aero Contractors rebuilt as a maintenance business, moving from -69% loss to 14% profit.
