We had a lovely day exploring Thamesmead for rare bumblebees yesterday as part of the Thamesmead Pollinator Corridor project. @BumblebeeTrust staff and local volunteers spread out and recorded shrill carder workers & a male and brown banded workers & males.

Shrill Carder Bees are back in great numbers in Trowbridge Meadow 🐝 With Common, Moss and Brown Banded Carder #bees around too plus plenty of butterflies, beetles and flowers. The shrills are loving the red bartsia #WildCardiffHour@IoloWilliams2@BuzzingWales@BuzzingShrill
First day of August and the @mod_dio Castlemartin Range is open for the month! We found plenty of Shrill carders out and about enjoying the sunshine!
Populations are in a little trouble in Pembrokeshire now, so it was reassuring to see so many today.

Thistle do nicely! This #ForageFriday we're focussing on all the thistles, like this Creeping Thistle, that are adding a splash of purple to grasslands and verges. They're often busy with #bumblebees in July and Shrills have previously been recorded on thistles 🐝#ShrillCarderBee
