The first marsh harrier chicks have hatched in the Zülpich Börde, while the endangered Montagu’s harriers are still nesting.
We are working with farmers to protect 11 crop-field nests over the next two weeks, keeping the chicks safe from combine harvesters until they can fly!

It is outrageous that these platforms aren’t being held to account for hosting such content (real and AI)
It’s getting worse and worse. It should not be our duty to monitor every single post made by ignorant people for likes and views. This responsibility belongs to all social media platforms, yet there are still no proper policies against animal and wildlife abuse. I have reported many of these videos and accounts, especially on @YouTube, but none of them were removed and because all of these platforms are fueled by engagement, they continue to turn a blind eye to this destruction and cruelty. I condemn this with deep disappointment.

A Marsh harrier nest with 5 eggs was just saved from an early ryegrass harvest near Nörvenich, Germany
Thanks to CABS staff, it’s now secured with an electric fence.
With over a dozen nests found, the rescue season is officially on!

Because wetlands are shrinking, these birds nest in crop fields. Teams rushed to fence off this nest just before mowing began - Mum is already safely back on her eggs 🪺
