Only idiots and Britain haters blame Churchill for the Bengal Famine This myth only became popular in 2010 after a ridiculous book was published by a far-left journalist with no historical training This is what REALLY happened: 1. A cyclone hit Bengal in 1942, destroying crops 2. They were already suffering from the worst rice brown spot epidemic on record 3. Normally in a famine grain would be imported from Burma, Malaya, Phillipines, Thailand etc. But WW2 ws raging and our Japanese enemy now controlled those areas 4. The Japanese had bombed Indian ports, which also destroyed grain 5. Shipping grain in was hugely dangerous because Japanese fleet was blockading the Bay of Bengal and sinking ships Remember, the Axis powers were sinking one ship every day and had sunk around a million tons of shipping in 1942. 6. On top of that local Indian speculative traders were unforgivably HOARDING grain. With inflation rife, this was classic wartime speculation as they could make (and expected to make) much more money by hoarding rather than selling immediately. 7. Local government and administrators were slow to act and initially told the UK government there was enough grain in Bengal. One can blame the democratically elected Government of Bengal, people like Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy (Minister of Civil Supplies for the newly formed Muslim League) and Sir John Herbert (the Governor of Bengal) for exacerbating conditions in the Bengal Famine. But not Churchill. What did Churchill do? Everything he could. Remember also, he was thousands of miles away in a different continent fighting the Second World War and preparing for D-Day. Yet despite all his other commitments he worked hard to save the people of Bengal. 1. When the British government found out about the famine’s severity in August 1943, they authorised around 1 million tons of grain to be shipped to India between then and December 1944. 2. Churchill pushed Australia to send wheat 3. Churchill personally requested shipping assistance from U.S. President Roosevelt in April 1944 to transport it from Australia. Roosevelt declined, stating US ships were needed for the Pacific campaign and the upcoming D-Day operations. 4. Thanks to Churchill grain arrived from Iraq (barley), and Canada as well as Australia. 5. Crucially, Churchill was responsible for appointing the man who played such a pivotal role in stopping the Bengal Famine: Field Marshal Wavell. Wavell knew India and its people extremely well and was a magician of logistics. He drafted in the army to move food supplies and halted the famine. I was brought up in a small western Queensland country town and my sympathies have always been with the beautiful Australian landscape and the great Australian working class. Both are under threat. The landscape is under threat from poorly conceived resource projects and the working class has been ravaged by an unfriendly economic system and cultural impositions that undermine what is important to them - family, community, sensible boundaries for behaviour and a country they feel part of and over which they have some degree of control. I recently found out that I share the same first and last name with a 19 year old student at Cornell who is going viral (over ten million views across twitter and other platforms) for anti-Semitic comments that he made (and continues to make) to a prospective-employer. My social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) and law firm email address are being blown up by people understandably angry at this other Austin Franco. None of the posts cross any legal lines, but unfortunately there have been comments and emails talking about me, my firm, my parents, etc. To make matters worse, the undergraduate looks just enough like me to be confusing, and the NY Post, Fox News, and other publications, have written about it with his image as the article cover. The bad Austin Franco is continuing to make these statements to media and on social media, so we wanted to go on the record disassociating me and the law firm from him. I am hoping this post will alleviate some confusion for the general public. I appreciate all the people who have reached out!

This all seems to be a ploy to link IP addresses and online activity directly to an identifiable person to make them easier to catch and track down. The government falsely assumed that everyone watches porn and they thought they would get everyone that way. It obviously did not work as well as they were hoping so they are now expanding it. (I have always said that initial laws are just a foot in the door, those laws will always be expanding after the fact into their true original intended purpose). So their plan now is if you want to use any social media or much of the internet in any way, you will need to prove that you are over 18 which means submitting an ID. This will require far far more ID submissions which will massively expand the government database, which was the real plan all along, not the safety of children. The funniest thing about this is after all the fuss about the Online Safety Act, this blanket ban on kids using social media pretty much renders the entire act pointless and made it a giant waste of time. Which to be honest, proves that the act was never about protecting children but was really about building a giant database that links all online activity directly to a person. This database would then be constantly poured over by AI to flag "citizens of concern" to the government who may be potential political dissidents, saying naughty anti-government things etc so the government can pre-emptively act against them. Did a bike ride today that I could never have contemplated without my eBike - from my home in Glen Waverley to Carrum Beach, a distance of 27km each way. Was a lovely ride although I was not expecting the last 5km to be dirt! The bike path goes all the way to the beach though 😊

Hello all. A quick update from me. My sex screen assay is progressing well. I promised rapid: I can detect SRY from a cheek swab in about 30 minutes. I am currently testing whether I can drop it to 10 minutes without compromising reliability. I promised cheap: The current cost per assay is about £2. I am currently testing whether I can drop this to below the pound line, and it’s very promising. I promised accessible: The assay could be run by any grassroots sports coach, school nurse, and my Mum. I promised on-site: This is where my lab efforts are currently focussed. I’ve always held “from the UK to Uganda” as a principle, and ensuring easy deployment is crucial. I’m currently learning a lot of materials science… The other main push is setting up various blinded, larger-scale tests. This will require lots of form filling.
