⛽ Fossil fuels industry says: EU needs gas for energy security
🧐What’s happening: Fossil gas dependency means volatile prices and geopolitical risks!
🔎The EU must cut fossil gas demand and commit to a fossil-free energy system by 2040!

🏭The fossil fuels industry asks: Who will supply our gas?
🧐 The real question is: How do we stop needing it?
🔎 The EU’s diversification strategy fueled higher dependency on fossil gas imports and an uncontrolled infrastructure boom.

The EU is set for a 54% increase in LNG import capacity as Member States turn to other foreign suppliers, even though demand is expected to stay flat until 2030. This risks major overbuild, with EU fossil gas supply on track to exceed demand by 26%. 2/2🧵🔗buff.ly/c04Lwoo
📢 Communities in the US are paying the price for Europe’s fossil gas addiction.
The EU replaced Putin’s gas with U.S. LNG, mostly produced through fracking.
This is the reality for communities on the frontlines.

🚨 The EU's climate action is at a crossroads 🚨
The #2040Target announcement has been delayed - with some pushing for *shortcuts* that risks derailing real progress.
Here's why each proposed shortcut is problematic 🧵👇
euobserver.com/green-economy…
🔁 Shortcut 4: Shifting sectoral responsibility 🔁
More flexibility between sectors = slower action where climate action is less convenient.
We need all sectors - transport, buildings, agri - to decarbonise, not pass on the responsibility.
Weak ambition isn’t just bad for the planet - it’s bad economics.
💶 Strong climate action = more jobs, cleaner air, better health & a resilient EU economy.
The EU cannot lead by outsourcing or disguising its efforts. In this crisis, shortcuts are not solutions!
