At the age of 14, Jim Shooter already had his own story published by DC Comics. To have done that at any age is a major accomplishment, but Jim was something special. He would go on to write DC’s Adventure Comics, as well as several other titles throughout the years, breathing new life into those stories. Later, he would take over as Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief, where he also capitalized on the ability to sell comics in tandem with new toy lines and TV shows, such as G.I. Joe and Transformers, which were widely successful and still extremely sought after today. And let’s not forget that he purchased the idea for Spider-Man’s black suit from a fan, which later led to the symbiote & Venom storylines. These are only a few of his many accomplishments.
While we are sad to hear about Mr. Shooter’s passing, we want to celebrate the life that he lived and honor him for all his hard work and his contributions to our beloved hobby.
Jim - Thank you so much for the memories and stories you have left us with that we will always treasure. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten!
