Members of the Black Panther Party for Intercommunal Solidarity are challenging the loss of their gun licenses amid an investigation of Philadelphia police by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The DOJ's investigation looks into police department's handling of licenses to carry firearms, including allegations that permits were improperly denied or revoked based on "character and reputation."
Among those affected is Paul Birdsong, who regularly conducts armed patrols in West Philly as part of the Black Panther Party for Intercommunal Solidarity.
