This is your final chance to follow CEASE on Instagram and LinkedIn before we close this account. Join us there for all future updates. Leaving X is an ethical choice. We can’t remain on a platform that seems designed to amplify and reward bullying and misogyny.

Thank you for supporting CEASE this year. As we prepare to leave X, we appreciate and champion everyone who continues to stand with us. The rise in misogyny, abuse, and disinformation makes it impossible for CEASE to stay here ethically – to stay feel likes collusion.

Our mission continues: exposing the industries that fuel sexual exploitation and abuse, and fighting for stronger protections. Our followers deserve respect and safety. X’s culture of harassment, disinformation, and abuse is exactly why we’re moving.

Evidence of widespread abuse on X has continued to accumulate – but in response Musk chose to radically downsize the teams responsible for tackling it.

This isn’t happening in isolation. Researchers, advocates, and frontline organisations have been raising alarms for years about how X’s policies enable coordinated harassment and hate. The problem isn’t just individual users - it’s a system that rewards harm for engagement.

We know no platform is perfect. But X stands apart in how openly it tolerates and amplifies misogyny, abuse, and disinformation. The scale and normalisation of harm here is unlike anything we experience elsewhere.

We’ve watched abuse directed at other organisations go completely unsanctioned. When a platform refuses to act - even when the harassment is targeted, repeated, and gendered - it sends a message that women’s safety is optional.
