Exciting - this means I get to talk more about Plant Pathology, Biosecurity as well as the 'usual' invertebrates (and yes I'm thrilled - 25 years @The_RHS and the Plant Health Team is amazing)

The Wisteria Walk’s magnificent purple cultivar ‘Kokuryu’ is now flowering after a much-anticipated wait. The white ‘Kimono’ cultivar is also starting to bloom, meaning that the two combined will provide a spectacular sight in the coming days.

To celebrate the #Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla, we’ve planted a tree at each of our five #RHSGardens 👑🌳
Each tree was chosen to embrace the environmental challenges and different conditions at each RHS Garden rhs.org.uk/gardens/articles/…
We are honoured and excited to share the news that flowers & foliage from our five RHS gardens will adorn the High Altar at Westminster Abbey during the Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort. @Flowers_ft_Farm are also providing flowers for the historic event this Saturday

Great session in front of the Lords Select Committee with @CEMatterson on similar issues to what Adam Frost is talking about - pointed out 1500 wildflowers; RHS have 80,000 cultivars logged with possibly 400,000 in gardens (We know National Plant Collections have 90,000).
Cultivars may be part of the answer to making our landscapes more resilient to climate change. My view - cosmos and hollyhocks for eg are none native, but really useful in terms of bees etc loving them. Drought resistant, don’t need pesticides (well I don’t need to use them) and research shows cosmos fed to cows cuts methane emissions by 15% (seriously!) So cultivars can provide answers to some serious questions. And by crikey… they can look amazing too #GardenersWorld#shoutyhalfhour
