Ohio State fans melt down so badly over every loss is because typically the following is true when the team loses in the Day era:
- We shouldn’t have lost or at least could have avoided losing
- It was not due to a talent deficit
- It happened due to UNADDRESSED problems the fanbase had been screaming about from the mountaintops all season
- It’s a multi-season issue that somehow has never been fixed (redzone, kicking)
- The game felt like Day was voluntarily tying one arm behind the teams back for no apparent reason, and simply refusing to exploit a massive advantage.
- it feels like watching a slow motion car wreck where even though there were plenty of chances to turn things around, somehow the outcome felt totally locked in and unavoidable. Like the steamroller scene in Austin Powers.
