Morris Gleitzman presenting the 2019 Ray Matthew lecture at the National Library. Libraries are often mis-thought of as quiet places. But libraries are not quiet and a child with access to a good library will not grow up to be quiet. #StudentsNeedSchoolLibraries

Morris Gleitzman presenting the 2019 Ray Matthew lecture at the National Library. We cannot measure the capacity for change that happens when a child steps into a story. Stories prepare our children for whatever future awaits them, the difficult times and challenges ahead.

This term in Year 5 Library we are continuing to develop our research skills by designing an action plan for communities facing the threat of natural disasters. Where would you go for this kind of information? #StudentsNeedSchoolLibraries

In Year 4 Library this term we are continuing to build our skills at locating information from multiple sources to check credibility and reliability of facts. Do you check your information by going to more than one source? #StudentsNeedSchoolLibraries

In Year 3 Library lessons this term we are continuing our analysis of gender balance in picture books. Did you know that dog characters are usually male? Did you know that female animal characters are usually fluffy and cute not strong and powerful? #StudentsNeedSchoolLibraries

In Year 1 Library lessons we will be using @Flipgrid to help us share stories we wrote in our How We Express Ourselves unit. We will attach a flipgrid QR code to our specially made tiny doors. Watch out in the courtyard for our Tiny Door Stories! #StudentsNeedSchoolLibraries

We recently finished genre-fying our fiction collection and have been exploring the different categories with Yr 1 for their HWEO unit. It was DELIGHTFUL listening to this yr 1 student accurately explaining the categories to a new student today 😍 #hweo #readers

Challenging stereotypes with Yr 3. Task was to choose a book for a boy and a book for a girl. The photos say it all! Lots of discussion about toys for girls and boys, publisher colour choice for books and department store aisle organisation. #visual_literacy #girlstalk
