Taking forward the growing engagement between CGI Manchester and the @UniOfYork , the Consulate hosted a special yoga event with students, faculty and members of the wider community as a precursor to the International Day of Yoga 2026, fostering greater cultural understanding and people-to-people connections through the shared values of learning, wellbeing and global citizenship. The event was opened by the Guest of Honour, Professor Kiran Trehan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of York, followed by remarks from the Consul General, Mrs Vishakha Yaduvanshi, who highlighted yoga’s enduring relevance in promoting physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, and its role as one of India’s most cherished gifts to the world. Aligned with this year’s International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, participants engaged in yoga practices that support vitality, resilience and healthy living across all stages of life. The celebration also featured an Ayurveda Corner, showcasing products and wellness practices that can be easily incorporated into everyday routines to promote holistic health and wellbeing.
