At the @MEDialogues and @DohaForum Regional Initiative in Milan, Dr. @majedalansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar, and President of CIPR, joined @EUSR_Gulf, EU Special Representative for the Gulf Region, in a panel on the future of #EUGCCCooperation moderated by journalist Maria Cuffaro of RAI and Dr. Paolo Magri, President of the @ispionline Advisory Board. Against a backdrop of renewed instability across the #MiddleEast, the panel examined the political, strategic, and diplomatic challenges facing both blocs, exploring avenues for stronger cooperation in security, crisis management, #EnergySecurity, and trade, with particular attention to the implications of the current crisis for the #Gulf, the #Levant, and the maritime domain, and to joint strategies that could foster resilience and support post-conflict stabilisation.

The event brought together policymakers, experts, and researchers to identify effective joint actions for a post-conflict scenario, focusing on #EUGCCCooperation in security, crisis management, #EnergySecurity, and trade across the #Gulf, the #Levant, and the maritime domain.

Great discussions yesterday and today in Milan, with my friend @majedalansari and impressive lineup of experts brought together by @ispionline and @DohaForum. I called for a region-led diplomatic solution, and spoke about EU contribution.

During my participation in this important session in Milan on EU–GCC relations, alongside my dear friend @EUSR_Gulf, I highlighted that EU–GCC relations are more vital than ever in today’s environment of regional instability, where coordination across security, energy, & trade is increasingly essential.

On May 8, 2026, Dr. Christian Koch, Executive Manager of the Brussels Office and Director of Research at the Gulf Research Center Foundation Brussels (GRCF-B), and Hannan Alghamdi, Researcher at the Gulf Research Center (GRC), participated in the closed-door session “EU-GCC Cooperation: Bridging Stability in an Era of Fragmentation,” organized by ISPI @ispionline and CIPR @CIPResearch as part of the MED Dialogues / Doha Forum @DohaForum discussions held in Milan. During the second panel, “A Post-Conflict Regional Order: The Levant,” Hannan Alghamdi spoke on developments in Syria, the evolving regional role of the GCC, and the importance of EU-GCC coordination in supporting long-term regional stability and institutional recovery.

Honored to participate yesterday in a workshop hosted by @CIPResearch and #Uzbekistan’s CFPS, advancing Central Asia and GCC dialogue. From aviation and digital to human capital, Qatar’s advantage lies not only in capital, but in operational excellence and institutional know-how that can help shape emerging frameworks. Bilateral relations between the two countries are not yet a volume relationship, but a positioning play with maximum strategic upside. Timely discussions in line with the visit of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister to Qatar.
