Last month, the BC Government released the Coroner's Report for the initial half of 2023, highlighting illicit drug trends and toxicity death statistics that occurred throughout the previous year. Here is a brief summary of those facts.

Have you heard? Since last month, June 6th, BC has expanded opioid agonist treatment medication (OAT) coverage under their Plan Z universal coverage plan.

52
What does this mean? OAT medications are now easily accessible for those in BC with an active medical services plan (MSP)! Why is this important? Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) medication-assisted treatment is a method for those struggling with opioid-use disorder.

Do you remember our White Paper and Forum event? From the report, CIRP has determined the effects substance use is having across the construction industry - and the numbers are in.

Assuming an estimated loss of $700 per worker at 712,500 days lost, plus an additional $400 daily for 870,000 hungover days, this is an estimated cost of $847 million per year due to substance use and mental health-related issues.

The numbers are clear - and the takeaway is that clear industry solutions, education, and awareness are necessary to tackle the issue. Read more about the White Paper Report using the link in our bio. #WhitePaper23
