The Hurricanes have tied the Stanley Cup Final with a Seth Jarvis goal in overtime, winning 4–3 in another thrilling game in Raleigh.
Vegas struck first when Brett Howden opened the scoring in the first period off a Mitch Marner assist, giving the Golden Knights a 1–0 lead after a fast-paced but scoreless opening frame.
Vegas extended the lead to 2–0 after another Howden goal midway through the second period, but the Hurricanes came roaring back in the third. Logan Stankoven sparked the comeback with a backhand goal to get Carolina on the board, followed by Mark Jankowski tying the game at 2–2.
Jordan Staal then gave the Hurricanes their first lead of the night with a tip-in, completing a three-goal surge.
Vegas refused to go away, with just over a minute remaining in regulation, Mark Stone buried a backhand goal off a Mitch Marner setup to tie the game 3–3 and force overtime.
In overtime, both teams traded chances, but Carolina sealed the win when Seth Jarvis scored 3:56 into the extra period off a setup from Shayne Gostisbehere and Sebastian Aho, lifting the Hurricanes to a 4–3 victory and tying the Stanley Cup Final at one game apiece.
Game 3 will take place in Vegas on Saturday, June 6 at 8 p.m. at T-Mobile Arena.
