New Year, new term! As I took the oath of office for my second term as Council Member for District 14 in the Bronx, I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible body of work we have been able to accomplish in our first two short years.
Thank you, @SpeakerMenin, for prioritizing CityFHEPS in the FY27 Budget. CityFHEPS is one of NYC's most effective tools for reducing homelessness & helping families secure permanent housing. We appreciate your leadership & commitment to expanding access to this critical program.
Thank you, @SpeakerMenin, for prioritizing CityFHEPS in the FY27 Budget.
CityFHEPS vouchers can transform lives & stabilize communities— we can't close a budget deal without a meaningful expansion.
Let’s get this to the finish line.

It's Gun Violence Awareness Month 🧡🧡
Gun violence did not start with us, but it ends with us.
That’s why I launched the West Bronx Community Safety Partnership – an initiative led by local leaders, electeds & organizations.
This initiative has since secured $3M to fund organizations that are already leading programs proven to create opportunity, build trust & save lives.
Grateful to my colleagues and local organizations for their partnership to tackle the root cause of violence, together.
Happy Birthday to District 14’s very own Council Member, @CMPiSanchez! 🎉
From growing up to raising her family in the district to representing them in City Hall as Chair of the Committee on Housing and Buildings, CM Sanchez remains deeply committed to ensuring that every resident can thrive in a neighborhood that is safe, stable, and full of opportunity. !Felicidades!

It feels like the Bronx is burning again.
The question for us as policymakers is can we look at ourselves in the mirror confidently say that we are maximizing our resources doing everything possible to address these fatal trends?

Three years ago, @NYCCouncil passed CityFHEPS expansion.
Since then, not a single NYer has benefitted.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has an opportunity – and a duty – to end this now.

Thank you @CMPiSanchez for your sustained advocacy for CityFHEPS expansion and commitment to New Yorkers. This law was meant to prevent evictions & move families into permanent housing, and years later, implementation is still pending. cityandstateny.com/nyn-media…
Since becoming Chair of the Housing & Buildings Committee, I have called for NY to confront the housing crisis in its full complexity.

My heart hurts for the neighbor we lost at 226 W Tremont overnight. My prayers and love to this family.
The Bronx is burning, again. @FDNY shared fires have doubled in outer boros in just 3 yrs. We know, we feel it. 💔
I urge @NYCMayor, let’s address root causes, save lives.
Horrified, heartbroken by the deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Islamophobia took these lives, and the normalization of this hate will continue to put communities in danger. I hold this community in prayer. No one should fear for their safety for simply being.
NYC is facing overlapping crises of affordability, housing instability, public safety public health, and I'm encouraged to see several meaningful investments reflected in the Mayor’s Executive Budget proposal.
I look forward to digging into the details in the weeks ahead. 👇👇
Run the Bronx is always a great reminder to show up for each other.
Whether that’s checking in on a fellow runner during the 5k or a neighbor in your day-to-day—together, the Bronx is resilient.
Grateful to have joined @BCCcuny and connect with you all!
Talking economic justice w/ @DMJulieSu means:
💰 Implementing street vending reform
🏰 Advancing the Kingsbridge Armory redevelopment
🏪 Supporting small biz on our commercial corridors
I'm excited to continue our partnership to bring economic development opportunities to D14!
Respectfully, @GovKathyHochul, CityFHEPs presently houses MORE New Yorkers than shelter, at a fraction of the cost.
The path to a balanced NYC budget is moving MORE families into permanent homes—not continuing to warehouse them in shelters that traumatize and destabilize people.
.@GovKathyHochul comes down hard on CityFHEPS growth: “We’re trying very hard to get them focused on a program that is growing 4% a month..It is unsustainable.”
“When we see budgets that are blowing up like a hockey stick..they need to make some decisions.”
On May 5, Council Member P. Sanchez and a broad coalition of street vendors, immigrant advocates, supermarkets, bodegas, Business Improvement Districts, Chambers of Commerce, and public space advocates released the following joint statement.
