Peter Yarrow '59 was listed in the 2003 book of "The 100 Most Notable Cornellians." With his death, only 15 of the 100 remain living. He can be seen (played by Nick Pupo) in the film "A Complete Unknown," currently in theaters.

Slotkin '98 is the 1st Cornellian elected to the U.S. Senate since Mark Kirk '81 (R-IL), who finished the final month's of Obama's senate term and then served one full term from 2010 to 2017. Slotkin is only the fifth Cornell graduate (seventh Cornellian) to serve in the senate.

Tata was the first Cornellian to win the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy, and he's one of only four Cornellians inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame. In 2023, he had the second most viewed Wikipedia page of any Cornellian (behind Christopher Reeve '74).

If workers return on Sept 3, I believe this may have been the longest strike in Cornell's history at 15 days. To my knowledge, the last two lengthy strikes were IUOE in 1980 and UAW in 1981, both lasting 12 days as the unions negotiated their 1st contracts with the university.

The 2024 Summer Olympics are the first Olympic games that Cornellians earned a gold, silver, and bronze medal since the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Cornellians won one of each medal at both games. 2024 had the most Cornellians win hardware at a summer games since 1992.
