A new light rail line has officially opened in Astana.
The first phase of the Astana Light Rail project, with CSCEC as a major contractor, is Central Asia's first urban light rail line and the region's first fully automated driverless rail line.
The line stretches about 22.4 km. CSCEC built 18.34 km of that – including 14 stations, 15 track sections, and one depot.
The project connects Astana International Airport, key city landmarks, and the new railway station, making everyday travel faster and more convenient.
At the opening ceremony, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev became the rail's "first passenger" and thanked the Chinese construction team – in Chinese.
