Born in Coventry, Connecticut on June 6, 1755, Hale was an early believer in the education of women. He also served as a spy for George Washington during the Revolutionary War.

Born April 26, 1822 in Hartford, CT. Frederick Law Olmsted is considered the father of American landscape architecture. He designed numerous famous gardens and parks including Central Park and consulted on Hartford's Bushnell Park.
