I've been warned severally to avoid staying out late at night while I was in Anambra but I thought it wasn't that serious. Until I paid my friend a visit and that was around 7pm and decided I to go home. After she had seen me off, I felt I needed to take the usual road I'm used to. The whole place was unusually quiet but there was nothing to worry about. As na our area. Lmao Soon, I noticed that someone seem to be following me and when I turned, I didn't see him clearly as it was literally getting dark but I stood still at some point and noticed a guy who was casually walking along the street behind me. I waited for him to get close so I greeted him and he responded and walked past. I felt a bit relieved. At least I wasn't imagining things. Yet something in me wasn't at ease. I looked up the street and down of it, there's nobody coming nor going and I couldn't go back to my friend's as I was at the middle of the street. I stood there for some time and I suddenly remembered that guy whom I had seen few minutes ago. I wondered where he could have gone as the street does not have any sharp bend and as I was pondering on this, that's when someone suddenly rushed out of the nearby bush and tried to drag me into it. It all happened too quickly that I didn't have time to clearly see the person's face until I turned. I bit him and kept screaming at the top of my voice. I received a punch but I fought back by hitting him with my handbag and kicked him on his manhood. I fought like life my life depends on it because it does at that moment. As God would save me, a bike man was coming towards that direction and this guy quickly dragged off my handbag and disappeared with it into that bush. Out of panic I couldn't believe what almost happened to me. My savior was that bike man. I knew instantly that the headlight from that bike was what made that guy run into the bush. I kept shouting and asking the bike man to stop and take me home. Luckily for me, he was someone who knew my family. He stopped his bike for me to sit and drove me home immediately. It was like a nightmare to me. I lost my phone, my ATM card and a little money but I'm forever grateful to God because it could have been worse. What if I got raped, killed or used for rituals? What if I didn't fight back with all my strength? Till date, I still wonder how I did it. All Simply because I thought I was familiar with an area and I could move around whenever I like. By the time the youths got into their room, they were nowhere to be found. So, in anger they started destroying things in the compound. Broke down our gate, destroyed the windscreens of cars of some neighbors and started beating up everyone in the house and accusing them of covering up the misdeeds of those neighbors. Omo. Our chairman was beaten up until he passed out. I had to run and told them I'm only a neighbor there and I know absolutely nothing about those guys or what they did. They left me. I had to run to a friend's place to pass the night. The following day, we got to know that the girl didn't leave by herself that it was a friend of those guys that sensed that if she's still found in that condition, then, everyone in that house would be in trouble so he quickly carried her while she was still sleeping as a result of that drug and make her lie down under the staircase and hid her there so as not to be seen. Until 4am when she had finally woken up, he made her leave. I realized instantly that no matter how much you ensure you avoid trouble and mind your business, a random person or neighbor will try to get you into it that in most cases, you might end up in prison for what you know absolutely nothing about.
