[CW transphobia] 🧵 This Pride month a lot is being said by @UKLabour about its history on LGBTQ rights so we thought we'd provide some recent history of what one of its MPs has been up to over the past three years, because they seem reluctant to mention it.
People sleeping rough will have somewhere warm to stay overnight this Winter as Canterbury Community Shelter is able to go ahead. This year, Canterbury Cathedral is taking part in this project.

ALT Statement
04 October 2024
Pride Canterbury are aware of the planned disruption to all 2025 events in the Dane John Gardens. Canterbury City Council stated that "the usual events will not be able to take place in the park next year" in a social media post last week, due to the Levelling Up works.
ALT Last week we reached out to the council requesting an urgent meeting to review the impact and timelines, and we are currently awaiting a response.
In our correspondence, we reiterated the importance of an LGBTQ Pride event in the heart of Canterbury and we have offered to work with the Council, and other community-led event organisers, to minimise disruption to events in our city.
ALT We are still committed to hosting Pride Canterbury on Saturday 7th June 2025, and we will be seeking for this to be located again in the Dane John Gardens.
Pride Canterbury will publish a further statement in due course. If you have feedback on the council's planned closure of the gardens, you can contact them via their website or social media.

Rosie’s vote share went -7% during the last GE while Labour made ground pretty much everywhere else
The locals know her, she’s not as popular as the press coverage suggests
Rosie Duffield quitting the Labour Party within the first 100 days of government, after all that Keir Starmer's leadership attempted to mollify her over trans rights, is really quite funny. thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…
I agree with Rosie Duffield! The benefit cap is cruel and needs to go. Typically the article is all about her though & she's somehow managed to make a piece about child poverty terf coded while using a picture of her having forty quid pasta with a billionaire
That's the thing with radicalisation, they have to play to the gallery. No mention of her constituency or local foodbank just her mates who choose to use their privilege (however they came by it) to punch down. It truly is a disease.
And they are fine with the way that Every. Single. Time. She ducks scrutiny by blocking and locking, and by not facing her constituents and answering their questions.
The most you can ever expect in the aftermath of one of Duffield's episodes is a GB News presenter saying "You're not a bigot are you Rosie?" and she says "of course not" and that's that.
Today, @SianBerry and I wrote to @WesStreeting expressing our serious concerns about his recent statement on puberty blockers
Trans young people need support, not to have their healthcare used as a political football
Medical decisions are for patients and Drs, not politicians.

Banishing expressions of queerness and Pride until kids are "teenagers/young adults" is how closets are made, and closets can kill. This is Rosie Duffield promoting the ideology of Section 28 but will @UKLabour do anything?
