We had a fantastic time yesterday at the #YouTurnVAWGConference2023!
The knowledge, experience and insight across all the speakers was truly incredible, while the conference itself provided an invaluable opportunity to increase our awareness on the impact of sexual trauma.
As part of our staff training week, today we welcomed our good friend Andy to Brightstar Wolverhampton where he lead the team through #safeguarding and #trauma training.
We’re so lucky to have @CYPFirst1 as a partner ⭐️
Our mentors have had a very powerful day of training with Andy from @CYPFirst1 increasing the tools in our tool kit so that we can share these with the young people we work with.

I trained a residential staff team a couple of weeks ago. At the end, one man was taking ages to leave. He was waiting for everyone else to go first. When they’d all left he said ‘I’ve hung back to say - I’m 49 years old - and nobody has never told me it wasn’t my fault before’.
During our Safeguarding Adults conference 2022 @CYPFirst1 hosted a workshop exploring how adults can be groomed for #exploitation and what modern day #grooming looks like to equip practitioners to recognise and report a concern:

#SafeguardingAdultsWeek It's everyone's responsibility! Have been proud to represent @guidedogs at the @AnnCraftTrust conference today and learn alongside colleagues from a huge variety of organisations who are all committed to #Safeguarding 🦮💙

Cath: I've got fantastic colleagues. You can't make difficult decisions in isolation. I can always call or chat with a colleague to tap into my support network and because of that, I can provide that support to others and organisations too.

Helen: Vicarious trauma is real. Sometimes I turn off the news, play games on my phone & zone out. Reflective practice, getting together as a team and having fun. Sometimes it feels wrong, but it has to be done. You have to look after yourself so you can look after others.
