My condolences to the family of Austin Metcalf, but we don’t know if suspect, Karmelo Anthony, was defending himself under Texas Stand Your Ground laws. If so, Karmelo Anthony had no duty to retreat, & deadly force was permissible under a legitimate threat. Wait for the facts.

Regarding the passing of Austin Metcalf, people who swear they aren’t racist will be very quick to try & dismiss a potential Stand Your Ground claim by the suspect, Karmelo Anthony (because he’s Black), but the law, if applicable here, must be applied equally to EVERYBODY.
