This Pride, we're channeling the power of our ancestors and elders. Everything we have today—is because of them. As attacks on our community continue to grow more stark and more violent, we remember the LGBTQ legacy of advocacy and activism. Luckily, this fight isn't the first time our community has fought for our right to exist. We will always exist. We will never back down.

As we transition from AAPI Heritage Month into Pride Month, we uplift the people who are a part of both communities. Asian Americans aren't a monolith. None of us are.

We are heavy‑hearted, mourning the three victims and the profound loss of security felt by the families and communities of the Islamic Center of San Diego. This tragedy is a stark reminder that acts of violence are rooted in the interconnected crises of racism and gun violence that continue to harm the health and well‑being of our communities.

In the early 1900s, South Asian immigrants made a home for themselves in California's Central Valley—a legacy that continues to live on more than a century later. This lesser-known history is a little look at how immigration continues to guide our communities, and how our stories—no matter our background—often have many similarities.

What happens when vulnerable Californians lose access to food? The short answer? Nothing good. While our state has invested in programs to aid our communities, the most vulnerable are still constantly at risk of losing their access to the resources they rely on. Communities that have access to affordable, healthy food—are healthier.

An estimated 72,000 immigrants in California are set to lose CalFresh benefits. H.R.1 changes the eligibility for certain immigrants, such as people with refugee status, victims of trafficking, and immigrants from Iraq/Afghanistan who have special immigrant visas. Taking away these resources has huge negative impacts on our communities. Food justice is justice for everyone.

We're in an era of constant news and terror—and it has an immense impact on our health. Between immigration raids, wars abroad, and increasing rent/food/gas prices, the stress can seem unmanageable. But community can help.

Farmworkers are often overlooked, pushed to the margins of a society that prizes office work over hard labor. 🌾 Even in advocacy, farmworkers are often only seen for their labor—not for their personhood. 🌾 Farmworkers are negatively impacted by inclement weather conditions, putting their health and wellness at risk. 🌾 Farmworkers have less access to healthcare resources. 🌾 During periods of immigration enforcement, working isn't an option—making it hard to pay rent or get food on the table. Thank a farmworker.
