The real-life inspiration behind Jurassic Park: paleontologist Bob Bakker, or “Dr. Dinosaur" helped reshape how we see dinosaurs and influenced Crichton’s story. He challenged the belief that dinosaurs were slow-moving reptiles, arguing they were active creatures related to birds.

A physical relief of the logo was created for Jurassic Park for use across the film. It was the background of the lab tour and screens in the Ford Explorers and was hung in the gift shop of the Visitors' Center. That relief now hangs on the wall of the Amblin Hearth archive.

And fwiw, he didn’t really write them into a corner. I don’t think Rebirth sets up *all* of them dying out. A (realistic) drastically changing climate and adverse conditions, sure, but it leaves the door open for things to survive. Things can change. Life always finds a way. 🦖

Putting an elephant into a convention hall like this is torturing it beyond the full comprehension of any human being, because we do not possess the sensory capabilities elephants do. Elephants have the strongest sense of smell in the animal kingdom. They can smell WATER from many miles away. Now imagine putting this poor elephant into an enclosed space with thousands of people, perfume, food, sweat, cleaning products, flooring, and equipment. This elephant was hit with a massive wall of biological information and sensory overload that we cannot begin to understand. Elephants also sense sound and vibration through their FEET, not just their ears. In the wild, they can communicate with each other from miles away just by sensing communication through their feet. Now imagine what that elephant is experiencing in a convention hall: thousands of human footsteps, sound systems, equipment, metal clanging, concrete, and more. A confusing hell. Finally, hard artificial surfaces, in this case the convention hall floor, are terrible for elephants.

Fuck this horrific spectacle and fuck the Texas GOP for enabling this antiquated treatment of a majestic animal. Absolutely perfect that it took a piss in the middle of all these troglodytes, but a shame it wasn’t *on* them. 🐘

The Texas GOP having an elephant at its convention means the Texas GOP enables animal abuse. And Governor @GregAbbott_TX’s name is on the banner, which also means he condones and enables the abuse of an elephant. It is scientifically and biologically impossible to have an elephant become controllable in this fashion without subjecting it to abuse. Elephants are not domesticated. In order to accomplish this sort of obedience, you have to break the elephant down. Absolutely horrific. Keep in mind he may be playing coy here. It’s still early days. It’s likely going to have more development time than Rebirth, which is a good thing. 🦕
