I am honored to have taken over as the 6th Executive Governor of Plateau State, and I am excited to begin my journey of serving and leading this wonderful state. Together with my Deputy Governor, Hon. @JosephinePiyo, we pledge to unite the people of Plateau and steer the state towards steady growth and development. As enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we recognize that peace and security are fundamental to achieving growth and development. We will prioritize security, combat criminal elements and invaders and create an efficient resettlement program for internally displaced persons. Our focus will also be on Agriculture, Education, Mining and Mineral Development, Digital Economy, Youths, Women and Social Development. We will prioritize fairness, equity, and justice in all our policies and administration, and we will work closely with the legislature and the judiciary. As we take on the enormous tasks ahead, we look to the founding fathers and past leaders of Plateau for inspiration. We acknowledge the challenges ahead, but we are committed to hitting the ground running and bringing noticeable change to Plateau State. Let us work together to make Plateau State a better place for all.

Three years ago, you entrusted us with a mandate to restore hope, rebuild trust, and renew Plateau State. Today, while challenges remain, we can point to meaningful progress: stronger security coordination, improved workers’ welfare, expanded revenue generation, investments in agriculture, mining, tourism, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, and renewed opportunities for our young people. Democracy is not merely about elections; it is about service, accountability, and the collective determination to build a better future. Every step we have taken has been guided by the belief that Plateau can be peaceful, prosperous, and united. I remain grateful for your trust and unwavering support. Together, we will continue the work of building a Plateau where every citizen can thrive. The journey continues. The future is bright. The time is now.

At the Invest Lagos 3.0 Opening Ceremony, I reaffirmed Plateau State’s position as one of the emerging economic frontiers in Northern Nigeria and a prime destination for investment. Our administration has moved Plateau from 29th into the top 10 states in Nigeria’s Ease of Doing Business ranking, creating a more attractive environment for investors and strategic partnerships. I highlighted what I call The Plateau Advantage, our immense potential in agriculture, livestock, tourism, and mining. We are scaling up potato production from 7 tons per hectare to 20 tons per hectare through the completion of our tissue culture laboratory, expanding opportunities across the agricultural value chain. As Nigeria’s leading supplier of fresh vegetables, we are seeking partnerships to develop modern cold-chain infrastructure that will reduce post-harvest losses and unlock greater value for farmers and investors alike. Through the African Development Bank-supported Special Agro-Processing Zone, we have secured 500 hectares around the Yakubu Gowon Airport, which is being positioned as an international cargo airport to support exports and agribusiness growth. We are also set to commence work on a modern meat processing facility that will leverage Plateau’s livestock advantage, meet domestic demand, and open access to export markets, including the Middle East. Our livestock development strategy is designed to transform challenges into opportunities by building a complete value chain that promotes economic growth, job creation, and lasting peace. Beyond agriculture, we are advancing plans for health tourism, leveraging Plateau’s unique climate and natural advantages to attract investment and improve healthcare outcomes. Plateau State is open for business, and we remain committed to building strong public-private partnerships that will drive sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

I was pleased to receive the leadership and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Plateau State Chapter, at the New Government House, Rayfield. I commended the union for its invaluable role in promoting road safety, supporting security agencies, and assisting in the fight against criminal activities across our state. Over the years, NURTW has remained a dependable partner in intelligence gathering, identifying criminal elements, and helping to curb social vices such as child trafficking, drug-related offences, banditry, and the illegal movement of arms and other contraband. I encouraged transport workers to remain vigilant and continue working closely with law enforcement agencies to safeguard our communities. Their presence at motor parks and transit points places them in a strategic position to contribute meaningfully to peace and public safety. As a government, we remain committed to strengthening the transport sector. We will continue to explore practical measures that will enable operators to acquire safer, more efficient vehicles, improve transportation services, and enhance the livelihoods of those who earn a living within the sector. I also appreciate the union’s continued collaboration with security agencies and NAPTIP in intercepting trafficking attempts and protecting vulnerable persons. Their commitment to public service demonstrates that transportation workers are not only drivers of economic activity but also important stakeholders in building a safer and more prosperous Plateau. Together, we will continue to improve our road infrastructure, enhance public order, and create a transport system that supports economic growth while ensuring the safety and well-being of all Plateau citizens.

I commissioned the rehabilitated Yelwa Water Treatment Plant, a key step in my administration’s commitment to providing clean and reliable water to residents of Bukuru, Gyel, and surrounding communities. This project reflects our determination to improve the quality of life of Plateau citizens, especially women and families who bear the burden of inadequate water supply. While Plateau is blessed with abundant water resources, our challenge has been treatment, distribution, and maintenance. We must protect our water infrastructure and ensure only safe water reaches our people. I also reaffirmed our resolve to prevent encroachment on water facilities and reservoirs, as safeguarding these assets is critical to public health. As part of our broader efforts to revamp water services, I signed a Memorandum of Understanding worth over ₦28 billion with China Geo-Engineering Corporation and Shanxi Construction Investment Group. The project, financed through a loan from the French Development Agency, will rehabilitate and expand water treatment facilities and distribution networks across the state. This investment will modernize aging infrastructure, improve water quality, strengthen supply within the Jos metropolis, and ensure sustainable access to safe water for our people.

Yesterday, I declared open the Plateau State Science, Technology and Innovation Festival (PLASSTIFEST), reaffirming our commitment to investing in the potential of our young people through science, technology, and innovation. We have concluded arrangements to connect skilled Plateau youths to global outsourcing opportunities, with hundreds already undergoing screening. As part of our Year of Technology Advancement, we are creating pathways for innovation, job creation, and sustainable development. I am particularly proud of a young innovator from Bokkos who designed and built a prototype vehicle. Through government support, he has been engaged to produce 200 hand tillers to help modernize agriculture and boost productivity. The future belongs to innovators, and Plateau State will continue to support young people with the ideas, talent, and determination to transform our society. The Time is Now.

I had the honour of hosting the Namibian High Commissioner to Nigeria, H.E. Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, as we began discussions on a strategic partnership between Plateau State and the Republic of Namibia. Our engagement focused on tourism, mining, wildlife conservation, livestock development, agriculture, and intra-African trade, key sectors that hold immense potential for economic growth and job creation. Having witnessed Namibia’s remarkable success in wildlife conservation and tourism, I am excited about the opportunities this partnership presents for Plateau State, particularly as we continue efforts to revitalise our tourism assets and attract investment. Africa’s prosperity lies in stronger collaboration among African nations. Plateau State is ready to build meaningful partnerships that drive development, unlock opportunities, and create shared prosperity. The Time Is Now.

Today, I joined the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, and the good people of Plateau State in thanksgiving to God as we marked three years in office. As I reflect on this journey, my heart is filled with gratitude to Almighty God for His faithfulness, guidance, and sustaining grace through the challenges, victories, and responsibilities of leadership. From the 2023 elections and the legal battles that followed to the security challenges confronting our state, God has remained our strength and refuge. Over the past three years, we have made significant investments in healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation, tourism, water supply, and peacebuilding. We have paid over ₦16 billion in pensions and gratuities, provided more than ₦4 billion in medical support to vulnerable citizens, expanded access to clean water, improved healthcare services, and continued rebuilding hope across our communities. The images of women dancing after water returned to communities that had gone nearly two decades without public supply remain some of the most powerful reminders of why we serve. Equally unforgettable are the sacrifices of women, youths, and children who stood firm in faith and solidarity during the period leading to the Supreme Court’s reaffirmation of our mandate. Their support will forever remain etched in my heart. As we enter our fourth year, I renew my commitment to defending the heritage of Plateau State, giving our people a voice, protecting our communities, and working tirelessly to build a peaceful, united, and prosperous Plateau for all. To every Plateau citizen, thank you for your trust, prayers, sacrifices, and unwavering support. Together, by God’s grace, we will continue to move Plateau State forward.

Today, as we mark our third anniversary in office, I remain deeply grateful to God and to the good people of Plateau State for your trust, support, resilience, and belief in this journey. Three years ago, you entrusted me with the responsibility of leading our beloved Plateau State with a shared vision of hope, restoration, peace, and progress. These past three years have not been without challenges. We faced insecurity, economic hardship, attacks on innocent communities, and political and legal distractions. Yet, through it all, we remained focused and determined to build a more peaceful, united, secure, and prosperous Plateau State. As an administration, we have continued to take deliberate steps toward restoring hope and rebuilding confidence in governance. In security, we revitalised Operation Rainbow, recruited and trained over 2,000 community volunteers, strengthened collaboration with security agencies, and deployed modern surveillance technology to improve intelligence gathering and response across the state. We have also remained committed to restoring dignity and hope to displaced communities through rebuilding efforts and humanitarian support initiatives across affected local governments. In education, we reduced tuition fees by 50% for Plateau indigenes in state-owned tertiary institutions, increased scholarship funding, renovated and constructed classrooms, and expanded opportunities for students within and outside Nigeria. In healthcare, we upgraded the Plateau Specialist Hospital with modern equipment, recruited qualified medical personnel, expanded health insurance coverage, and improved healthcare facilities across the state. Through the Tin City Metro Transport Service and partnerships with airline operators, we have improved transportation and eased the burden on our people. We also continued investing in agriculture through the recovery of farmlands, distribution of subsidised fertilisers, mechanised farming support, and ongoing agro-processing projects. Across the state, road construction projects, water schemes, rural electrification initiatives, tourism development, urban renewal projects, and environmental sanitation efforts are gradually transforming our communities and laying stronger foundations for the future. Certainly, we have not yet reached the mountaintop, but we are no longer in the valley. Step by step, we are rebuilding Plateau together. Plateau is rising again, and with your continued support, unity, and faith, we will keep moving forward toward a more peaceful, stronger, and prosperous future for all. God bless Plateau State.

MY DEEPEST APPRECIATION TO MEMBERS OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC), THE GOOD PEOPLE OF PLATEAU STATE AND NIGERIANS. It is with profound humility and immense gratitude that I express my heartfelt appreciation to Almighty God for allowing me to cross yet another milestone of mercy in my journey of leadership and service to Him and to the great and peace-loving people of Plateau State. The overwhelming support and enthusiasm demonstrated by the distinguished members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State during the APC gubernatorial primary election held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 is quite humbling! The interest generated in the Plateau process beyond party structures by the citizens of Plateau State and other Nigerians at home and abroad is beyond comprehension! I am deeply honored by this victory. It has renewed my belief in our common destiny as a people in search for peace, prosperity and the deserved place honour for Plateau State in Nigeria and beyond. This victory belongs to all of us - party faithful, supporters, stakeholders, youths, women, elders, and volunteers who worked tirelessly. Thank you for believing that The Time is NOW for us to begin preparing to seek the renewal of the mandate of our beloved Plateau people for another term of four years. This trust has re-energised my resolve and determination to lead the way in the pursuit of our ordained destiny as a people set on the hills of glory and the flat and lowlands of fertility. My profound gratitude goes to my leader, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for the hand of fellowship he has extended to me and the confidence he has reposed in me. My brother the National Chairman, Professor Nentewa Yilwatda Goshwe, thank you for standing by your public declaration that there is no vacancy in the Plateau State Government House. My gratitude also goes to the National Working Committee, State, Local Government, and Ward leaders of our great party, the electoral committees at all levels, security agencies, and all individuals who contributed to the peaceful conduct of the party primaries. To my brother Governors, National leaders, friends, supporters and well wishers both at home and abroad, I want to thank you immensely for your fervent prayers and encouragement that have brought months of anxiety to a re- assuring crescendo! However like in all human endeavors, there would have been challenges which I believe we would resolve as a family. I equally acknowledge and commend my brother and fellow aspirant, Yilchini Jan Bida, for his sportsmanship, and invaluable contribution to the democratic process. As we move forward, let us remember that there is no victor and no vanquished. The conclusion of the primaries is not the end. We must begin the process of reconciliation in order to strengthen our party and work together for the overall interest and advancement of Plateau State and Nigeria at large. To my brothers and sisters who contested other positions and were not pleased with the outcomes, I urge patience and restraint as we activate internal mechanisms to address the grievances. To those who were declared candidates, The Time to arise is Now! I therefore call on all party faithful and the good people of Plateau State to remain united and steadfast as we prepare for the greater task ahead. Together, we shall build a Plateau State that is peaceful, secure, inclusive, prosperous, and filled with great opportunities for all, particularly the youths. Thank you once again for this great honor and responsibility. I do not take it for granted and you will not be disappointed. I remain fully committed to serving the people with integrity, humility, fairness, and unwavering dedication. Thank you, and may God bless Plateau State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"...Since these attacks began, I have remained in close contact with security agencies and local authorities to ensure swift response measures..." Following the recent attacks in Nding community of Barkin Ladi and Ngbrazongo village in Bassa Local Government Area, I visited the affected communities to personally sympathize with grieving families, survivors, and community leaders, and to reassure them that the Plateau State Government will not abandon them in this difficult time. No community on the Plateau should live in fear. Since these attacks began, I have remained in close contact with security agencies and local authorities to ensure swift response measures. I commend security personnel for preventing the situation from escalating further, while also directing that any operative found complicit in these attacks must be investigated and brought to justice. At the strategic security stakeholders’ meeting held in Barkin Ladi with religious leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives, and community stakeholders, I reaffirmed that perpetrators of violence and terror across Plateau State will not escape justice. As part of measures to restore order and strengthen security, I reiterated the ban on night mining activities, directing that all mining operations must end by 5:00 p.m. daily. I also reaffirmed the ban on night grazing and prohibited grazing by underage children. Plateau State will not surrender to criminality. We remain committed to strengthening our security architecture, protecting vulnerable communities, and ensuring lasting peace across the state. I also assured farmers that government is taking steps to secure farming communities ahead of the planting season and support agricultural activities through fertilizer subsidy interventions. I appreciate the support of the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, as well as the Plateau Youth Council (PYC), CAN, JNI, traditional institutions, and all stakeholders working toward peace and stability in our state.

It is with a profound sense of humility and rare privilege that I had the honour of representing our revered father, the distinguished leader of the Middle Belt, an African statesman per Excellent and an accomplished philanthropist, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, at the 2026 Nwonyo Fishing Festival, held at Nwonyo Creek in Ibi, Taraba State This revered cultural festival stands as a powerful symbol of unity and peace, consistently attracting both local and international tourists and firmly placing Taraba State on the global map. With a rich history spanning over a century, the fishing festival traces its origin to Bula Wurbo in 1861, reflecting a long-standing tradition deeply rooted in the identity of the people. The festival remains a living testament to our enduring heritage, an expression of cultural pride that not only preserves our traditions but also serves as a vital source of livelihood for the people. I extend my sincere appreciation to my brother, Governor Agbu Kefas, for his visionary leadership in reviving and rebranding the festival, thereby creating renewed economic opportunities and promoting cultural tourism in Taraba State. In addition, I had the honour of representing the Nigeria Governors' Forum in solidarity with Governor Agbu Kefas, reaffirming our collective commitment to support initiatives that advance tourism and sustainable development in the state. From our standpoint in Plateau State, we remain dedicated to strengthening inter-state collaboration and partnerships that will uplift our people and lift them out of the shackles of poverty. Today, I had the privilege of witnessing the exchange of marital vows between Temitope Samuel Afolabi and Tislo Emmanuel Piyo, son of the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Ngo Josephine Piyo. This union, built on a firm foundation in God, will further strengthen bonds of love and social cohesion; not only between the two families but also between the people of Plateau State in the Middle Belt and those of South-Western Nigeria. The wedding was thoughtfully postponed in honour of the victims of the Angwan Rukuba tragic incident. I pray that God, who watches over every city and its people, will continue to guard Plateau State and richly bless this union with peace, love, and enduring joy. On behalf of my wife and the good people of Plateau State, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the newly wedded couple and their families on this remarkable milestone. May God guide them and grant them a fulfilling and blessed marital journey.

I convened a strategic meeting with distinguished leaders and former Governors of Plateau State on Tuesday at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos. The meeting deliberated extensively on matters concerning the well-being, welfare, progress, and overall prosperity of the people of Plateau State. The high-level engagement critically reviewed the prevailing security situation, particularly the recent violent attacks in rural communities across the state. Discussions were focused on fostering sustainable peace, strengthening unity, and promoting harmonious coexistence among all residents. The leaders collectively resolved to pursue justice for all and to establish robust frameworks that reflect the enduring courage, discipline, hospitality and patriotism of the Plateau people within the Nigerian project. Emphasis was also placed on rebuilding fractured relationships and restoring trust, with the aim of reinforcing Plateau State’s longstanding identity as the Home of Peace and Prosperity.

Today, I visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to brief him on the Palm Sunday night attack in the Angwan Rukuba community of Jos North Local Government Area, and to update him on the proactive measures we have taken to address the situation. The incident was deeply unfortunate, but we thank God that the situation has now been brought under control. In response to the attack, we swiftly implemented several proactive steps, including the imposition of a 48-hour curfew, the reinforcement of the existing ban on motorcycle operations within the Greater Jos Master Plan, and the immediate convening of a State Security Council meeting to review and strengthen our security framework to prevent further escalation. This morning, we relaxed the curfew from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to allow residents attend to essential activities. Regrettably, some miscreants took advantage of this window to engage in looting and attempt to disrupt the peace. I am, however, pleased to report that our security forces responded promptly and restored order without delay. The President expressed his support for the decisive measures we have put in place to contain the situation and prevent a recurrence of such unfortunate incidents. He also offered valuable counsel on strategies to achieve lasting peace in the state and extended his heartfelt condolences to the victims and the people of Plateau State. Deeply moved by the situation, the President has graciously adjusted his schedule to undertake an emergency visit to Plateau State as a demonstration of his concern, solidarity, and commitment to the people. He has also approved additional measures to be implemented in collaboration with security agencies to further stabilize the situation.

I stood with grieving families, listened to their pain, and shared in their loss. No words can truly capture the depth of sorrow in moments like this, but I want every affected family to know you are not alone. Your pain is my pain, and the pain of Plateau State. I assure you that those responsible for this evil act will not go unpunished. My administration will pursue justice relentlessly until the perpetrators are brought to book. We will also ensure that the lives lost are honored with dignity through a befitting burial. Furthermore, the Plateau State Government will take full responsibility for the medical treatment of all those currently receiving care as a result of this attack. I call on all citizens our traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to work with us. Today, I join millions of Nigerians, well-wishers, admirers, and party faithful across the world in congratulating my esteemed brother, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, on his well-deserved election as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside other members of the National Working Committee. Prof. Nentawe’s emergence through a consensus arrangement is a clear demonstration of the APC’s commitment to inclusive, people-oriented leadership under the guidance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly as the nation looks ahead to the 2027 general elections. I am happy with the maturity and foresight of party leaders and stakeholders who have continued to promote unity, tolerance, and strategic reforms within the party. These efforts have strengthened internal cohesion and ensured a level playing field for all members to pursue their aspirations without rancour. I acknowledge the tireless efforts and leadership of Prof. Goshwe since his unanimous adoption in June 2025. Among the key initiatives he has introduced are reconciliation and forgiveness among party members, the reorganisation of party membership through e-registration, and the repositioning of the APC for sustained growth and electoral success. I am confident in Prof. Goshwe’s capacity particularly his expertise in digital transformation, energy research, and ICT, as well as his distinguished service as a Resident Electoral Commissioner. These credentials position him to lead the party to a resounding victory in 2027. I also express deep appreciation to key national leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, as well as governors and other critical stakeholders and party faithful, for zoning the National Chairmanship position to the North Central region, particularly Plateau State. I reassure the party that Plateau State is endowed with competent and capable individuals of proven integrity in public service. I am confident that Prof. Goshwe will foster unity, peace, and progressive leadership within the party, while strengthening its legacy of justice, tolerance, and compassion. On behalf of my family, the government, and the peace-loving people of Plateau State, I congratulate my brother, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, on this well-deserved recognition. I pray for God’s guidance, strength, good health, and wisdom as he assumes this critical leadership role, with the expectation of leading the party to greater heights and ultimate victory. I had the privilege of joining the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, and the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, at the flag-off of the distribution of relief materials (food and nutrition assistance) at Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos. This initiative reflects the compassionate leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his determination to support vulnerable citizens who are struggling with the realities of poverty. Yesterday marked a significant moment for Plateau State as we appreciate the President’s commitment to improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged in our society. His economic reforms are well-intentioned and, by the grace of God, will deliver the desired long-term benefits, while immediate interventions like this help cushion present hardships. I sincerely appreciate the National Chairman, the Honourable Minister, members of the National and State Assemblies, and other stakeholders of our great party for their presence and commitment to initiatives that put food on the table of our people. As a government, we are also taking proactive steps to support our farmers by procuring fertilizer ahead of the next farming season. Our goal remains clear: to empower our people towards self-reliance, teaching them how to fish rather than merely giving them fish.
