ALT Giva Balasingam: âI am motivated to volunteer with Calgary Legal Guidance because I believe access to legal support should never depend on a personâs financial status. I first learned about CLG through a friend who shared its mission of providing free legal advice to Calgary residents who cannot afford a lawyer, and that introduction affirmed my commitment to service. In my experience, many people seeking help are navigating financial hardship alongside other significant challenges; at CLG, their concerns are heard and taken seriously, and they receive dignified, practical guidance. By contributing my time and skills to this work, I hope to help build a fair and compassionate community where everyone can meaningfully exercise their legal rights.â
ALT "I volunteer with CLG because its services address many gaps in access to justice by giving legal advice to individuals who do not have the financial resources to retain a lawyer, and either do not qualify for other programs such as Legal Aid, or who have matters that are not covered by those programs."
