👇. Ditto to racial diversity. If a speaker lineup looks nothing like the real world, that is a catastrophic failure that needs to be investigated and undone before announcing. "None applied" isn't an explanation, it's a symptom and a smell.

Due to inclement weather around the U.S. causing extensive power outages, we have extended the CFP deadline by 24 hours.

Conference audiences are always rooting for you as a speaker. They want you to succeed. If you fumble, if you're nervous, if you forget how your sentence was going to end, if you make an error, they will root for you. Because community supports people who are brave and generous.

Organizers, don't let up. Notice who's still underrepresented in our industry and underrepresented at podiums. Intersectional, especially: racism sexism work together to exclude WoC from being heard and heeded. Transmisogyny. Ableism. Ageism. Classism. Keep opening doors wider.
