One of the biggest lies in Web3 is that networking will change your life.
Spend enough time in the space and you’ll hear the same advice over and over:
“Network more.”
“Meet people.”
“Get in the right rooms.”
While that’s not completely wrong, it’s also not the full story.
I’ve seen people spend months jumping from Space to Space, commenting under every post, joining every community, and collecting hundreds of connections.
Yet nothing changes.
No opportunities,growth or meaningful progress.
Why?
Because networking can get people to notice you, but it cannot replace competence.
Imagine someone refers you for a role.
The referral gets your foot in the door
Your skill determines whether you stay in the room.
The most effective people I’ve seen in Web3 aren’t just visible. They’re known for something.
>A trader known for market insights.
>A writer known for simplifying complex topics.
>A designer known for quality work.
When opportunities appear, people don’t just remember their names.
They remember what they can do.
Networking opens doors
Skill gives people a reason to keep opening them.
The goal isn’t to choose one over the other.
The goal is to become so useful that when people think of a problem, your name naturally comes to mind.
Have you ever seen someone get an opportunity through networking but lose it because they couldn’t deliver??????
