#PutahFire UPDATE (June 9, 7 am): The fire is now 20 percent contained. Its size will be assessed later Tuesday morning when it is mapped by CAL FIRE remote sensing aircraft.
Highway 128 remains closed to traffic from Pleasants Valley Road to the Canyon Creek Resort and its status will be re-evaluated later in the morning.
Overnight, firefighters battled gusty winds as they worked to keep the fire within the established control lines. There were multiple spots where the fire slopped over control lines that the hand crews and dozers continue to focus on. The left shoulder (western side) of the fire was the area that caused the most problems.
On Tuesday, CAL FIRE will have 15 engines, 12 hand crews, seven dozers and seven water tenders with approximately 265 total personnel assigned to the incident. Three aircraft - one air attack, one airtanker and one helicopter - are assigned for early morning aerial firefighting operations, as weather conditions permit.
Evacuation warnings remain in place for Yolo County Zones YCU-197, YCU-291 and YCU-293. To view the evacuation map, visit:
