Dunkirk spirit.
The very best of wishes to our sterling nursing colleagues on ICU - and through out the hospital - who are rallying to help in these unprecedented times.
Huge round of applause at handover today as our ward nurse colleagues came to support critical care, as medical students came to work as health care support workers and most impressive and a first at CUH a histopathology consultant came to be a bedside nurse!! #InItTogether
Very excited to announce a new vacancy. We are looking for a permanent band 7 critical care pharmacist. Come and join our dynamic and expanding team. Please get in touch if you are interested. @CUH_NHS @CUH_Pharmacy #CUHProud#teampharmacybeta.jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/j…
I’d like to tell you a story of a crisis in critical care beds. When patients were being shipped across the country, and crucial operations cancelled. Its not a tale of 2020 (though I could easily tell that too), but of the 1990s. The ICU beds crisis often made the papers.
Four months of working at the very limit of medicine and surgery, whilst witnessing inter-disciplinary collaboration, delivering holistic patient-centred care. It's been great, and Thank You, John Farman Intensive Care Unit ! @CamCritCareEdu
@henryhammerbeck You were a mentor, a guide, and a friend! Words cannot bring you back, but it certainly does bring back the fond memories that we all shared with you! You are terribly missed Henry! Lister anaesthesia team.

Nature's epidural? A @Cambridge_Uni study of women who did not need pain relief during childbirth suggests that they may be carriers of a genetic variant that acts like a natural epidural. ow.ly/dnaU50AFXJD@CamAnaesthesia
Psychologically we all want this to be over. To go back to pre-Covid. But those promoting virus miraculously disappearing are just telling people what they want to hear. Seen this from Jan. Harder to say what no one wants to hear- bumpy road ahead & need for test, trace, isolate.
“We are going to see cases go up. The virus is going to continue spreading.”
Professor @devisridhar says lifting the coronavirus lockdown is “pointless” if we do not have the proper infrastructure to detect and trace. #bbcqt
Home from the lab after another week. Today we did 320 health worker tests with @Baker_Lab_Cam 4 lung aspirates in the CL3. Collected lots of data and reported back within hours per sample. Great collaboration with PHE Cambridge and Vilas & @andymoz78 in ICU. Love lab science!
